Wedding: Francesca & Giles ~ The Old Kent Barn, Kent

I knew that Francesca & Giles’s wedding was going to be a great one to photograph as we had so much fun on their engagement shoot in Whitstable. Two naturals in front of the camera. The fact that they are great friends of mine made it all the more special.

The ceremony took place at St Mary Bredin church in Canterbury and the reception at the fabulous The Old Kent Barn. When they booked the wedding the barn was not even constructed so they obviously had great faith in the architects drawings (very brave). I’ve shot a number of weddings in barns but have to say this my one of my favourites with it’s huge windows there is an abundance of natural light which makes for fantastic photographs. The theme of sapphire blue and white continued throughout with stunning white orchids for the bouquets arranged by the lovely ladies at Contemporary Flowers.

They were blessed with an amazing Indian summers day, it was a complete joy to capture their wedding.

Luckily in the evening I got to put my camera down and enjoy the fantastic music performed by Dukes of Havoc one of the best bands I’ve heard at a wedding.

Enjoy the photo’s…

Wedding: Elaine & Mark ~ Gate Street Barn, Surrey

Elaine & Mark are great friends of mine and I was very touched when they asked me to photograph their wedding at Gate Street Barn. Every time I saw them in the lead up to the wedding Elaine would talk about all the fantastic ideas she had for the day and how she’d been finding inspiration by spending hours and hours reading wedding blogs.

So, even before the big day arrived I had a great idea of what was in store and it didn’t disappoint, all the personal touches made it such a wonderful day. From the homemade chutney that her Dad made for the favours to the hand sewn hearts hanging on the back of the chairs by her grandma. They had 2 wonderful wedding cakes, a vintage inspired one made by Mark’s sister and a cheese cake from The Cheese Box in Whitstable that went down a treat with the chutney.

I was very honoured to make it on to the wedding programme as “honorary usher and photographer (the multi talented) Ben Toms”. All the wedding stationary was amazing and all by the very talented Jenny at In the treehouse. I loved Jenny’s work so much that I asked her to become one of Ben’s Friends on my website and hope to work with her many more times.

The lovely Annamarie Stepney came along to shoot photobooth for me, so I could relax and enjoy the evening. A real high light was watching Mark being out classed by his dad on the dance floor.

Two great friends to whom I wish a long and happy marriage.

Wedding: Leanne & Simon ~ Lympne Castle, Kent

I just could not stop smiling all day; it’s just brilliant when everything drops into place. Leanne & Simon’s wedding was one of these occasions, great people, beautiful location, brilliant weather and real emotion.

Lympne Castle overlooking the Romney Marshes in Kent was a stunning setting for their wedding. I’d been looking forward to this one ever since we had shot their engagement shoot here earlier in the year.

Leanne stayed at the castle cottages, a great place to have her hair and makeup done in the morning by the wonderful Vicki Lord & Lucy Jayne , I love working with these ladies.

From the cottages it was a very short walk to the church for the ceremony and then an even shorter one to the castle for the reception. It was such a fun filled day and some of the best wedding speeches I’ve heard and a very emotional one given by the bride. All helped along by the local wine from the Chapel Down Winery  just down the road, apparently the same wine was enjoyed earlier in the year at the Royal Wedding.
