Wedding: Kelly & Simon ~ Lovekyn Chapel & Union Pub Chiswick Business Park, London

My wife tells me I should write a weather blog as I always comment on it in all my blog updates, so, I’ll get it out of the way (maybe I have a weather obsession? it might come with the job?) Kelly and Simon’s wedding was a damn hot day! Wow, where to start with this one it was an action packed day. It was a nice relaxed start with the ladies getting ready at the Chiswick Moran Hotel. The more weddings I shoot the more I’m learning about things like shoes and Kelly’s Irregular Choice ones were very cool.

The ceremony was held at the very beautiful Lovekyn Chapel, before heading back to Chiswick Business Park for the reception. I was already familiar with the buildings around here as a few weeks ago I did Kelly and Simon’s pre wed shoot here so knew that it provided some fantastic backdrops. They had provided an old route master London bus to transport the guests back and forth to Chiswick due to the lack of parking at the Lovekyn Chapel.

I took a black cab with Kelly and her dad from the hotel; Simon however, joined his guests on the bus. Unfortunately the bus’s battery died on the way leaving the groom and all the guests stranded in Chiswick. Luckily, Tori was helping me out on the day second shooting and not only did she do a fantastic job of photographing as always but she did a great job of keeping the calm. Fortunately the registrars had no more weddings that day and nor did the chapel. With the help of numerous taxis (the bus was going nowhere at this point) and Kelly’s handy stash of rescue remedy to keep her calm the ceremony did take place all be it about an hour and a half late.  And, as the final guests arrived in their taxi the bus also made an appearance. It was a stunning ceremony and the bus was kept running outside to ferry everyone back to Chiswick. It all makes for a good story to tell the grandkids one day.  The reception took place in the Union pub and I’m sure a few pints were sunk; I know plenty of cups of tea were as they had an afternoon tea party before an evening BBQ. Its such a cool location for photography and I love the shots we got for their bridal portrait session.

It was such a pleasure to photograph their wedding and here are a few of my favourites, as you can see there were still plenty of smiles.

Wedding: Elaine & Mark ~ Gate Street Barn, Surrey

Elaine & Mark are great friends of mine and I was very touched when they asked me to photograph their wedding at Gate Street Barn. Every time I saw them in the lead up to the wedding Elaine would talk about all the fantastic ideas she had for the day and how she’d been finding inspiration by spending hours and hours reading wedding blogs.

So, even before the big day arrived I had a great idea of what was in store and it didn’t disappoint, all the personal touches made it such a wonderful day. From the homemade chutney that her Dad made for the favours to the hand sewn hearts hanging on the back of the chairs by her grandma. They had 2 wonderful wedding cakes, a vintage inspired one made by Mark’s sister and a cheese cake from The Cheese Box in Whitstable that went down a treat with the chutney.

I was very honoured to make it on to the wedding programme as “honorary usher and photographer (the multi talented) Ben Toms”. All the wedding stationary was amazing and all by the very talented Jenny at In the treehouse. I loved Jenny’s work so much that I asked her to become one of Ben’s Friends on my website and hope to work with her many more times.

The lovely Annamarie Stepney came along to shoot photobooth for me, so I could relax and enjoy the evening. A real high light was watching Mark being out classed by his dad on the dance floor.

Two great friends to whom I wish a long and happy marriage.

Marianne & Simons Jewish/German wedding was a wonderful fun-filled day. I was very excited about this wedding as it was my first Jewish one and I’d been briefed on all the traditions. I was told to expect lots of crazy dancing and loads of laughter throughout the day, and boy it didn’t disappoint.

The ceremony took place at Islington Town Hall before all jumping in Black cabs and heading to the Peasant Pub in Clerkenwell. I can honestly say it was some of the finest wedding food I’ve tasted. The evening was full of joyous celebrations and yes loads and loads of dancing by young and old.

Marianne & Simon I hope your married life together continues to bring you as many smiles as your wedding day.
